We had to push crafting corner a week ahead, a week after when we typically and so if you're here with us today, thank you for being here. If you're not here with us today, I understand you are forgiven. You may remember that last time we were working on a project available to everyone should they wish to try it.

If you were here last time, you may recall that I said I was going to make use of my my vinyl cutting machine that cuts more than just vinyl. I should should just call it my cutting machine to essentially get all Adam asks if they're really haunted. I don't believe these are really haunted. So I suppose it is a bit of false advertisement.

I haven't caught any haunted vibes on them. But back to this. I said I was going to use it to print out pre cut. Pre cut pieces and I was able to do so. So all of them are already ready for us, which is very exciting to fold and shape. So what we're going to do is look at the assembly and it says begin by cutting out the grip on parts page one. Well, we've done that. So we find the grip, get a grip as they say.

I too question their hauntedness. Adam. All right, so let's find the grip piece. No, that doesn't look like a grip. Remember that the grip is this. I've got my trusty bone creasing folding device. No, still not a grip. These pieces out of the way.

Look at all these little pieces. Look at all these little wheels. Aha. We found the grip foreign. And it says fold the four small upper blue tabs upward and then fold downward along all of the lines indicated in green in Figure 1. This is not green. There is no color here. So what I will do is pull up the guide on my screen so that we can see the green portions that need to be folded in origami.

It is called mountain folds and valley folds. And so we're Doing vao mountain folds for. No, we're doing valley folds for the blue pieces and mountain folds for the rest. All right, so if I turn this this way, then what I need to do is fold up these pieces here, which would be valley, because you're creating a valley. Now, I don't remember which way is which. I think down would be mountain. Right, because then the point in the middle is up. Up would be valley, because the point in the middle is down, which would be a valley.

All right, fold the four small upper blue tabs upward, and then fold downward along all of the lines indicated. So we'll start by folding this up, and then I will use my bone scorer. Let's actually zoom in a little bit here. So I was curious what crafts people are working on today. Fun. Shelly Dolha sounds fun, too. I have a little miniature diorama that we worked on on the show, but I'm curious to hear what kind of embroidery you're doing. Is it specifically the kind where you display in the embroidery hoop, or are we talking embroidery on an item in order to show it? Groundhog Day Voyager says I have no craft ready for today, but my wife has done plenty for the both of us. Sewing a pair of paintings pants right now and finished a jacket earlier in the week. I think it's NASA project where you can type in your name and it displays it in geography pictures, sort of satellite images of the Earth. They found different formations that look vaguely like letters. Anybody watching any interesting television lately? We just started watching hacks and are quite enjoying it after multiple recommendations. I went fishing recently, caught a bass. Small mouth.

We were out there for. 12 hours, and in the whole time, I only caught the one fish. North yorkshire in the uk. Hello. Hello. Or should I say, You're right? Is that how it goes? You're right. I don't know why that took me so long to remember. There's something about being on camera that's making me a little bit nervous here about folding my edges, Which is odd because I don't usually have that kind of stage fright.

All right, so we need to still get these two lines folded, these two lines folded, and then this line and this line folded, and then we should be ready to move to the next step, which is exciting. So for those of you tuning in who didn't get a chance to see what was up, I'm currently folding a Papercraft ray gun. The ray gun stuck out to me because of a certain friend in the chat. Also in one point. Co worker. Good old Reagan. All right, It. Got that piece.

Technically, I could have used the cutting machine to also do the scoring. However, that wouldn't have left us with anything to do, would it? So we saved that. I saved that for this. Brandroid. So Brandroid says, how does your cutting machine work? Is it basically a cn. CNC machine for paper? And it is a. It's a cricket. And it essentially. Yes, it's programmed to respond to commands and it moves a blade or an embosser or a debosser or a. All sorts of little tools along the. Whatever you put on it.

So you can do paper, but you can also do things like leather fabrics. Oh, vinyl is the main thing. Etc. Hello, Chocolate milk mini sip. And yes, there is one tonight. To my minecrafting friend. It is. It was being odd for me too, I will say, because when I went to start the event, it wasn't showing up.

So I didn't. It was. It was being very weird. So you're not alone in. Think what's going on. Okay, so this is what it says next, glue the green triangular tab. That's this. To the unprinted side of the adjacent rectangular tab and then glue the Gray tab with the green dot to the unprinted side of the adjacent panel side.

So first we're going to put a wee bit of glue on to this green triangle and then. Put it here. Then it won't. Whoops. Oh, come on. Just like that. And then we'll put glue along this tab. Wow.

You can place the ruler inside the grip so there's something to press against when gluing.

The grip should now resemble figure three. Thank you, Brantroid. So I guess we're flipping these out of the way. And then it says to the. To the match. But I mean, do they go on the outside or the inside? I'm assuming. I meant to tuck them like so. Right.

But then again, if I do it this way, that would provide more support. It's unclear to me which way is imagined. I'm trying to even look at the photos, but I can't tell from the photos. Well, I suppose it doesn't really matter, does it? I'm gonna go ahead and put it on the inside, and I think I'm going to use my other tape or glue. No. Adhesive. This is the adhesive used by many a scrapbooker. Glue dots.

Oh, I'm glad you could hear the noise. I was worried he wouldn't. You wouldn't be able to see the. The. The part about ruler. Oh, never mind. I guess I was going to say the part about the ruler would suggest that it was expected to be on the outside, but I realized that regardless of whether this is placed inside or outside, you do still need a flat surface inside to press against. Wow.

Doing this for camera is slightly different than doing it by myself. And I swear to God, if anyone makes a joke about that, I'm kicking you out of the chat just for today. I just want to say chocolate milk mini sip that if you trace truly are of the baby boomer generation, please know that that was not a slight to you by any means, but instead was about trying to figure out if that is an outdated reference or not. And I mean that sincerely. You'll know when I'm making jokes at your exp. 1969 is on the cusp. I didn't realize that. Are you sure? That's wild, because that means my dad's a boomer or a cusp boomer. And I thought he was too young to be a boomer. All right, so I did that.

Mikah Sargent [00:26:47]:
Fold the lower rectangular panel down over the gap and glue the triangular panel to the lower corner of the side panel. See, that one feels like it should be on the outside, but it's not. Again, it's supposed to go on the inside. Oh, wait, no, it's not. It's supposed to go on the outside. Oh, no. What if they were all supposed to go on the outside? Oh, bollocks. Oh, well, Gen X, not baby boomer generation.

Mikah Sargent [00:27:24]:
Boundaries are fuzzy very slightly. Depending on the source. Someone born in 1969 may share cultural traits with younger boomers or older Gen Xers, depending on upbringing, country, and life experience. I, for some reason just thought that boomers as a whole were a lot farther away from me in age range, and my father doesn't feel that far away from me in age range. So is it just that I'm old? Because I thought I was a young millennial, but I think I might just be a middle aged millennial. Well, sorry, a. A mid. Midlineal.

Mikah Sargent [00:28:11]:
Not. Not middle aged in terms of actual age, but in terms of the generation middle aged of the generation. I. I tend to get along with Gen X folks. I wonder if it's my Midwestern name, nature that makes that the case, because I feel like Gen X folks are very. I think there's a kindness to you, but there's also a fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, you're dead sort of aspect to it. And so they're being mannerly and kind and yeah, I don't know. Not shady.

Mikah Sargent [00:29:10]:
Then I can earn the trust of a Gen Xer and then it's all good from there. That's just a theory. Yeah. I'm just glad to have dogs because then I can always do the calculations of how old they are. And then I go, I feel very young. I feel pretty. Oh, so pretty. So weird that I never heard that term until I was an adult. I would argue we've never been so online than we are now. And so up to that point, like the memes of it all have not. We've not been. You know, where would. Where would people be talking about it as much and born of. I'm. If I'm not wrong, I believe it was born of advertising concerns.

Right. So yeah, I think it's more just where we are in time that we're hearing it more now than we have before. All right, so now I need to find body part B. I don't remember what party body part B looks like. I've got to find the other pa. Okay, so body part B has no windows. Here's body part B. And it says.

Because what will happen is I'll be able to get this whole thing done in one episode if it's all pre cut for us. Unfortunately, that's not the outcome here, is it? Very excited. Next week and not this coming weekend. But the one following is the Oregon Renaissance Festival, otherwise known as Renaissance Festival. And the theme is because they.

They do it over the course of three weekends. I believe it's three. It's either three or four. And they do different themes. And the theme that I wanted to go to was the last week of June, and none of my friends and acquaintances who are going were available. And so we had to go to Fantasy Weekend. Oh, I forgot to say that the theme for my weekend was pirate. So we're not going to Pirate Weekend.

Mikah Sargent [00:37:11]:
However, because my pirate costume is fantastic, I'm still dressing as the pirate because the pirate that I do is Captain Jack Sparrow. And I know that something that his character would say is something along. Something along the lines of, you know. Well, I happen to believe that I'm everyone's fantasy or something like that. So, yes, I am planning to welcome weapon. Weaponize that phrase in case anyone tries to weaponize the theme against me. And yes, that does mean that I made a pansexual, bisexual Captain Jack Sparrow. Also, did I say I happen to believe everyone's my fantasy I meant the reverse.

He would say, I happen to believe I'm everyone's fantasy. No, I don't. Currently magic. I am, I am planning to do every year I do like a re. Watch and get back into. Because I can, I can sort of embody some of the body motions and everything. And so I do, I do like to practice. So I'm sorry, but I can't perform without having done my yearly research again to, to get back into it.

Last year it was funny. I was walking along and they had one of those folks that has those machines that you turn on the side to and to plucks things. And the guy was playing some other music, but as I walked past, he switched and started playing Pirates of the Caribbean. Caribbean theme song. It was pretty cool. So of course Captain Jack had a. Had a little. Had a wee dance.

Mikah Sargent [00:39:22]:
Everybody likes to ask me. I, I. So my. I think I've talked about this before. My significant other is rather shy, and last year he was kind of like, do you really. Do we, do you have. Could we maybe like, what if you took off the hat or something? Because people kept shouting throughout the like time we were there, Captain Jack, where's the rum gone? Why is the rum gone? Why isn't there any more rum? What happened to the rum? And I will admit that, you know, everybody thinks that they're making that joke for the first time, but if everybody's shouting it, it sort of loses its flare. Especially if you'd rather remain a wee bit introvert.

Mikah Sargent [00:40:15]:
That would be my significant other. Not me, obviously. I. I knew what I was putting myself, what I was getting myself into. I took a really cool picture. Let me see if I can show you. I took a really cool picture with Loki last year. Let me see.

So yes, there's the photo with Loki that I took. And then I also took a photo with this person. I don't know what their outfit was, but it was just really cool. And so I took a photo with them as well. Look at all those eyeballs. Just a neat outfit. So anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Ah, picasso.

Well, now I feel foolish. Foreign. So we folded all those tabs. Now. Fold all six gray tabs downward and then fold downward between all 12 panels. So 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. Oh, did I miss one? 1, 2, 3, 4. So then that means this has to be 8, 9, 10, 11.

Where is the 12th fold? Am I losing my mind here? Can anyone find the twelfth fold? In any case, I'll just start folding and we'll see what happens. Oh, you're saying maybe it's not Picasso. Oh, wow. Did you make. Oh, I thought you made a Ben Folds five J joke. But the Uno joke is equally good. All right, so that's. You know what? I'm not going to count them.

Mikah Sargent [00:43:52]:
It's just going to make me feel sad because I don't know. What about that last fold? The most important aspect of any Ren fair is the smoked turkey leg. If I have gone to a Ren Fair and I have had a smoked turkey leg, then I have achieved what I set out to achieve. The rest is just bonus. So. That there is a happy pirate this year. Something cool that I had not participated in when I was younger and went to Ren faires is sort of like people, they bring little trinkets and then you can exchange them. And so I have a little potion bottle that I got last year from someone and.

Mikah Sargent [00:45:35]:
A little crystal. Anthony says that he went to his first one last year. That's so exciting. Did you dress up, Anthony? And a few other things. A little dragon. And so this year I, I am going to. I have this like parchment style paper. So I'm going to print out little stupid, stupid, stupid pirate jokes.

Let me see. Do I have them nearby. Printed out onto this parchment and then roll them up and put them in little glass bottles. So it's like a message in a bottle. Why couldn't the pirate play cards? He was sitting on the deck. What's a pirate's favorite letter? You'd think it's our. But his first love be the sea. What did the ocean say to the pirate? Nothing.

Mikah Sargent [00:46:33]:
It just waved. One of my favorite ones. What did the pirate say on his 80th birthday? Ay, matey. So I'm gonna put those into little bottles and then hand them out. Whenever people give me a trinket, that'll be my trinket in exchange. And it's funny because this local group, there's one member of the group that absolutely hates my dad jokes. And so I can't wait to give him one of these. And then he opens it up and it's gonna have some stupid.

Mikah Sargent [00:47:06]:
I'm gonna make sure it's the worst one. In fact, maybe I should take one of the ones that I crossed off. What's a fire? What's a pirate's favorite cuisine? Barbie Crew. So stupid. What do you call a pirate librarian? A book. Aer. I love puns. I don't care.

I think they're funny. To me it's like democratized. Oh God, I. Don't get me started. No, I'm just good. I sort of democratized humor and I like that everybody can participate. You know, some stuff is too referential, Some stuff is too niche. Some stuff is too high falutin.

Some stuff is too navel gazy. But a good pun is like we all can get it. And so it's just like shared joy. Yeah, it's shared joy. And sometimes joy is making people groan. And listen, I gotta quit saying things tonight. Chocolate milk mini sip. Don't you dare.

And what I did hope I was going to read next was they had a pun exhibit.

And so the fact that they did that is not what you ended up saying. But instead say they have a Picasso exhibit is very interesting and also very topical. But unfortunately in this instance, a little disappointing. I don't blame you. But I am disappointed. Paul. Paul. Very, very good.

Actually, I. All right, we finally got all those pieces folded. Do I get to paste them together? Glue the two small tabs to the unprinted side of the adjacent panels and then glue the four remaining gray tabs to the unprinted side of the adjacent panels. Okay, so we'll do those two. I guess that seems like it sticks out pretty far, but just do what they say, right? So what I'm going to do is put down an index card so that I can use my glue. Rolling de. First one almost entirely missed the tab, so not great on my part. A little bit of a waste there.

Mikah Sargent [00:53:48]:
It. No one likes my pirate fantasy joke. That's fine. You're probably right. I should just give in and go as a pirate. But I've really invested a lot of time and energy into my Captain Jack costume and my Captain Jack impression, and I'm just not getting the validation I was getting at the beginning of this episode. But it's fine. I guess I'll survive.

Typically what I do is I go upstairs and I look at the recipe cards for the Green Chef subscription that we have. Yes, that is a Green Chef subscription. That is not a free one. It is completely independent of any advertising. But it's a way for my significant other and me to be able to eat together and it be gluten free and we don't have to really like worry about it. And so anyway, what I will be doing is going upstairs looking at the recipe cards and then finding the one that takes the least amount of time to make. And then I do that throughout the week such that at the end of the week I have to make the one that takes the longest to make. But that's for future Micah to worry about.
