Tip: Run Windows Server and SQL Server on Google Cloud

On Windows Weekly 504, Mary Jo Foley had an enterprise tip for running Windows Server and SQL Server on Google's Cloud platform. Until recently, it's been possible to run these servers on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.

As of February 1, Google made beta versions of preconfigured images for SQL Server Enterprise and Windows Server Core available on the Google Compute Engine. You can bring your own license or pay by the minute.

Google hasn't always been known for having a cloud platform that's interesting for people in the enterprise. Now with Diane Green as the head of the Google platform, Google wants to attract more enterprise companies and developers by adding the capability to run Windows Server and SQL Server.
